ALEX CRACKETT
For MAYOR of Invercargill
HI THERE. I’M ALEX CRACKETT
Invercargill’s Future Begins with Us, Together.
It's time for a Mayor with energy, enthusiasm and experience. One who enriches relationships throughout the community, making Invercargill the premier place to live, work, and raise a family.
Invercargill is a compact city with limitless potential.
My priorities as Mayor:
-
As Mayor, I am committed to keeping rates as affordable as possible for all Invercargill residents. This means being proactive in identifying areas where we can streamline operations, prioritise spending and make smart long-term investments in our infrastructure.
-
As your Mayor, I pledge to continue to be actively engaged in the community, listening to your concerns, working together to address local issues and celebrating your successes alongside you.
-
While we've made significant progress, there's still more to achieve. I am committed to ensuring the successful completion of our CBD urban rejuvenation projects, including Wachner Place and Te Unua, Museum of Southland.
-
I am committed to ensuring that our city’s infrastructure is not only robust and reliable but also adaptable to future challenges, such as climate change and population growth.
-
Make it easier for people to move around the city by getting the basics right, fixing potholes and making it safe for our tamariki to walk to school. I am committed to ensuring we deliver our core services more efficiently and effectively.
-
I am committed to enabling businesses and community housing providers to build healthy, secure and affordable homes. This is essential not only for the wellbeing of our community but also for the long-term growth and sustainability of Invercargill.
-
It’s simple - working regionally saves us money. Over time, these relationships have weakened, but I am committed to rebuilding and strengthening our connections, both with our neighbouring councils and mana whenua.
-
I am committed to continue to utilise my extensive national networks to advocate for both Bluff and Invercargill at a national level, ensuring our communities’ needs and priorities are heard and addressed
-
Southland contributes over 8% of New Zealand's overall GDP, yet we still have untapped potential. I am committed to fostering economic development and unlocking the full possibilities for our region's growth.
-
We’ve got multiple major projects underway, it is my commitment to deliver these projects as scheduled with the community and within the funding envelope.
-
Champion initiatives that support our youth, elderly, families, and communities, prioritising transparency, connection, accessibility and meaningful engagement.
-
High-paying jobs are crucial for growing our local economy, increasing the standard of living, and helping to retain our talented workforce, ensuring that Invercargill remains a thriving, prosperous city for years to come.
